Liquid lens
The liquid lens.
A liquid lens based on the thermocapillary effect can operate in the mode of collecting lenses, and scattering mode (toroidal) lens. She can focus unlimited, making it wear-free and very fast.
Description:
Liquid lens on the basis of their work has a thermocapillary Marangoni convection (the so-called Marangoni effect). It essentially consists of a special solution, which when irradiated with light going into a drop and works as a PLANO-convex lens. The temperature gradient on the surface (a gradient of surface tension), a drop of liquid is created by laser radiation.
Varifocal liquid lens based on the thermocapillary effect can operate in the mode of collecting lenses, and scattering mode (toroidal) lens. Liquid lens can focus unlimited, making it wear-free and very fast (due to the properties of fluidity of liquid).
Advantages:
– the ability to change focal length, adapting to the changing external conditions,
– can operate in all modes in comparison with existing analogues and traditional lenses: how collecting and diffusing lens
– will minimize the most complex optical systems,
– has wear
– fast focusing,
– this technology eliminates the use of large moving parts inside the lens.
