Description:

Mink is a predator belonging to the family kuntsevych, the family of weasels and Minks subgenus.

According to the classification there are two main species of mink, American and European.

The European mink is a little less American, its body length is 0.3-0.35 meters, and the fur of the European mink is valued less than its American cousin. The European mink is characterized by light brown color of the fur.

American mink large – 0,33-0,4 m, and their fur is darker, velvety and thick than the European mink. In the 1930s the American mink was brought to the USSR for a relatively short period of acclimatized and drove European traditional places of settlement.

The main provisions of the development of farming took place in the late 20’s-early 30-ies of XX century through the creation of large fur farms. It has been observed that mink colors are determined genetically, but because of the breed Minks are called mutations.

In the end, the American mink from fur breeders became not only the Queen of fur, but turned out to be the classic object of genetic research: has a huge number of mutations (rocks) affecting fur color: dominant and predominantly, lethal and sublethal recessive.

Natural color mink, like all fur-bearing animals, it is called wild (standard). From the standard mink the combination of crossing and receive all sorts of colors.
