Dump truck eDumper – the largest electric vehicle in the world:

Dump truck eDumper is the largest electric vehicle in the world. This model is intended for use in the mining industry for transportation of rock.

Truck eDumper established on the basis of dump truck Komatsu HD 605-7. eDumper was converted from a dump truck Komatsu HD 605-7 by replacing the diesel engine to two electric motorpowered by a Nickel-manganese batterythat is installed on the truck.

Truck eDumper has 9,35 metres in length of 4.23 metres in width and 4.4 metres in height. Load capacity up to 65 tons. Empty weight is 58 tons. Maximum weight of the Laden truck is 110 tons. Body volume 29 m3, and with a cap of 40 m3.

One of the electric motors connected to the rear axle of the truck and is used as the primary traction, while the other (the second) – used only to ensure the operation of the hydraulic system, braking system and steering. The first motor has an output of 789 HP and a torque of 9 500 Newton·meters, and the second with 272 HP battery Weight is 4.5 tons with a volume of 600 KWh.

eDumper is also equipped with a regenerative braking systemthat makes it unique. This system enables the loaded truck to go down the mountain from the quarry to the plant and recharge the battery with electric energy, which is enough to reverse the empty uphill to the quarry. Thus, eDumper due to the slope in Laden condition accumulates sufficient energy for the next empty lift, so he works continuously, without consuming energy from external sources.

Daily dump eDumper makes 20 round trips from the quarry to the plant. It annually delivers more than 300 thousand tons of rocks. Its service life is about 10 years.

The regenerative braking system saves up to 50 thousand liters of diesel fuel per year and annually reduce 130 tonnes of CO2 emissions (carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere.

Replacement diesel engine to electric also helped reduce maintenance costs.
