Vozdukhoochistka paint comprises a photocatalyst on the basis of titanium oxide. The mechanism of photocatalyst is based on the effect of photocatalysis consists in the oxidation and decomposition of various organic substances and some inorganic compounds, including harmful to human health, into simpler substances – carbon dioxide gas and water.

Photocatalysis is a change in the speed or excitation of chemical reactions under the action of light in the presence of the substances (photocatalysts) that absorb light quanta and are involved in chemical transformations of the reaction participants (e.g., oxidation, decomposition, or synthesis), repeatedly entering them into intermediate interactions and regenerating its chemical composition after each cycle of such interactions. For these reactions (synthesis, decomposition or oxidation) occur on the surface of the catalyst.

Under the action of quanta of light with energyexceeding the band gap of the semiconductor photocatalyst, the formation of electron-hole pairs within the volume of the photocatalyst. The resulting electron and hole migrate to the surface and participate in redox processes with adsorbed compounds.
