Description:

The extraction of rare earth metals from waste products of mineral fertiliser – phosphogypsum is a new innovative technology.

In the dumps of industrial enterprises, Russia has accumulated approximately 320 million tons of phosphogypsum — waste processing of Apatite for phosphorus fertilizer. It contains from 80% to 98% gypsum, is widely used in construction. In the dumps contains about 800 thousand tons of rare earth metals.

New innovative technology of extraction of rare metals from waste products of the fertilizer solves three tasks: obtaining raw materials from waste of valuable rare earth metals that are in demand of construction material is gypsum and the simultaneous disposal of industrial waste.

The technology of extracting rare earth metals from waste and fertiliser production is a closed loop. In the process of phosphogypsum processing of the basic raw material leaching allocated construction plaster and a high-purity concentrate of contained rare earths oxides of neodymium, dysprosium, terbium, cerium, lanthanum, praseodymium. Then the concentrate is separated into individual elements with the help of the cascade of centrifugal extractors is enriched and becomes full of quality raw material for high-tech industries, including the production of lasers, electronics and computers.
