Purification of water from uranium:

Purification of water from dissolved uranium is carried out using the sorbent, which is a composite of a porous iron oxide systems containing nanoscale iron in combination with organic polymer matrices. The sorbent has porous structure, high specific surface area and chemical composition that is optimal for the chemical reaction with the uranium. As in its basis it (the sorbent) is iron, it can be easily separated from the purified solution by the method of magnetic separation.

The sorbent enables purification of water from dissolved uranium with an efficiency up to 95 %. In this case the sorbent is introduced into the aquatic environment in a ratio of 1:100. The cleaning process takes place at room temperature for 3 to 48 hours, after which the water is filtered, and the residue is extracted.

The sorbent can be used in a typical stationary installations for the preparation of industrial and domestic waters and for cleaning the contaminated natural and waste waters.

It is known that in the Sea the ocean is a huge number of dissolved chemical elements. Although their concentration is very small, but given the volume of ocean water, the total mass of the chemical resources of the ocean equal 50х1015 tons. Thus, according to scientists, the mass dissolved in sea water uranium is about 4 billion tons, which is about 500 times more than all known reserves available in the ground ore. Dissolved in sea water uranium can be extracted.
