Pneumatic battery:

Pneumatic battery storage energy (battery), based on the compression of gas (air).

The pneumatic accumulator is a system of storing energy in the form of compressed gas (air).

It is designed to accumulate excess electricity generated at generation of electricity at power plants, and returns it to consumers during peak loads. A very important application of the air battery in conjunction with wind and solar power plants, since the work depends on the availability of wind and solar energy.

With the help of electric motor, compressor or pump the gas (air) is pumped into the drive. For the production of electric energy, gas (air) is released through a special gas turbine.

Efficiency of pneumatic accumulator is 40 to 70-80 %. This low efficiency is due to the thermodynamics of the compression process, the gas (air) and the expansion of compressed gas (air). When you compress a gas (air) is heated and, accordingly, there is a loss of energy, and in the expansion – cooled.
