Mobile power plant according to the principle of operation is an electrochemical generator of electric current with a power of 500 Watt, 24 Volt DC voltage. The principle of operation of this supply system based on the conversion of chemical energy of hydrocarbon fuels into electricity and heat via high temperature solid oxide fuel cells. Fuel is propane or natural gas, the oxidizer is oxygen from the atmosphere.

Description:

Mobile power plant according to the principle of operation is an electrochemical generator of electric current with a power of 500 Watt, 24 Volt DC voltage. The principle of operation of this supply system based on the conversion of chemical energy of hydrocarbon fuels into electricity and heat using high-temperature stronglyoxide fuel cells (SOFC or solid oxide fuel cell – SOFC). Fuel is propane or natural gas, the oxidizer is oxygen from the atmosphere.

The “heart” of the system – SOFC is a set of high porous ceramic elements, performing the role of ion-conducting membrane. They converted hydrocarbon fuel (synthesisgas with a high content of hydrogen) produced in a separate unit integrated in the device (a catalytic reformer, downstream) interacts with oxygen ions. The used technology is the reforming process is suitable for conversion and other liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon fuel. The power supply system is modular.

The electric current produced by the SOFC, is converted to the internal electronics of the device requirements for input current and voltage used by the external batteries (as a buffer energy storage) and then can power the payload.

 

The principle of operation of the device:

The chemical energy of fuel is converted into electrical energy and heat without the process of combustion of fuel and use of traditional cycles of heat engines. The technology used is solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) allow for the conversion of hydrocarbon fuel (propane) and its subsequent oxidation without the need for an external supply of water and the organization of the flow of oxidizer (oxygen for the reaction comes straight from the air). Products in a chemical reaction are carbon dioxide and water.
