Gas oil is a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons of different structure, mainly C12-C35, and impurities (mainly sulfur-, nitrogen – and oxygen-containing) with their boiling temperature of 200-500 °C and a molecular weight of 50-500 g/mol.

Gas oil as fuel:

Gas oil is a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons of different structure, mainly C12-C35, and impurities (mainly sulfur-, nitrogen – and oxygen-containing) with their boiling temperature of 200-500 °C and a molecular weight of 50-500 g/mol.

The gasoil depends on the nature of the oil and varies widely. It contains paraffin hydrocarbons (alkanes) and naphthenic hydrocarbons (cycloalkane) – 60-70 %, aromatic hydrocarbons (arena) – 20-30% impurities and sulfur-, nitrogen – and oxygen-containing organic compounds, up to 5-7 %.

Gas oil is one kinds of cheap diesel fuel. Because of its low cost they have low consumer properties. Therefore, it cannot be used in engines of ordinary cars. It is used as an additive.

Combustible and flammable.

Production, production and types of gas oil. Atmospheric gas oil, vacuum gas oil. Light gas oil. Heavy gas oil:

Gas oil is produced by distillation (distillation) of crude oil or its products (if it was not separated in the distillation process).

Depending on the method of production distinguish between atmospheric and vacuum gas oil.

Atmospheric gas oil obtained by direct distillation of oil under conditions of atmospheric pressure. Vacuum gas oil by distillation of crude oil and refined products (e.g. fuel oil) – at a pressure of 10-15 kPa (0,09-0,15 ATM).

The limit of the boiling temperature of the atmospheric gas oil 180-360 °C, vacuum – 350-540 °C.

Atmospheric gas oil is one of the components of diesel fuel (up to 15% in the composition of diesel fuel).

Vacuum gas oil – a feedstock for catalytic and hydrocracking for lung (boiling point = 200-350 °C) and heavy (boiling point = 350-500 °C) gas oil.

Light gas oil in their physical state – liquid, easily flowable, thin, heavy gasoil – slabovskiy, in large proportions, has the property of thickening the mixture.

Flash light gasoil – 80 °C, pour point from -22 to +34 °C.

Flashpoint heavy gas oil – 100-150 °C, pour point from -15 to +22 °C.

Light catalytic gas oil (after refining, which reduces the impurity content of heteroatomic compounds) also is a component of diesel fuel. The heavy catalytic gas oil is a component of boiler fuel, and heavy gas oil hydrocracking component of boiler fuel or lube products.
