Carrickbrennan fiber:

Carrickbrennan fiber (eng. silicon carbide fibres) – structural fiber consisting of nanocrystalline silicon carbide (SiC).

The fibers have a strength to σ + = a 3.45 GPA and E = 430 GPA.

They can be used in oxygen-containing environments at temperatures up to 1600 OS, while maintaining its strength characteristics.

Carrickbrennan fiber is an alternative to carbon fibers. Last dramatically reduce their strength characteristics already at 350-400 OS.

Carrickbrennan fibers have good compatibility with polymer, ceramic and metal matrices, which allows to obtain composites , which significantly exceed the technical characteristics of the composites, reinforced with carbon fibers.

Scope carpetcleaning fiber: manufacture of prepregs based on them, composites with polymer, ceramic and metal matrices.
